Bulldogs host Blue Devils on Saturday for senior day, wrap up NEC play at FDU on Sunday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Coming off a nonconference win earlier in the week, the Bryant University softball team wraps up the Northeast Conference slate, playing host to Central Connecticut on Saturday for senior day at 1 and 3 p.m., before hitting the road to take on Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday at 1 and 3:15 p.m.

The Bulldogs (7-33, 5-7 NEC) are coming off a 4-1 victory over nonleague foe UMass Lowell, in which freshman Kaleigh Goulart (Marion, Mass.) stepped up big, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, while senior Liana Ogata (Tustin, Calif.) went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Saturday's contest marks the 14th meeting between the Bulldogs and Blue Devils (15-21-1, 4-4) with the series set at 5-8 in Central Connecticut's favor. CCSU enters the contest on a two-game losing streak, dropping both games of the conference doubleheader against LIU Brooklyn, 10-1 and 10-0. Freshman Kerri Dadalski leads the Blue Devils, batting .326 with a team-best .609 slugging percentage, as the team averages .260 and .359, respectively.

Sunday's matchup is the 15th meeting between the Bulldogs and the Knights (11-27, 4-4) as the Bulldogs head into the contest with the series lead, 9-5. FDU most recently lost to Manhattan, 7-3, on the road. The Knights are led by Madelaine Wilen who bats .375 in her 38 starts, while the team averages .274. Wilen also leads FDU with 12 doubles and five home runs, while Reanna Cervantes tops the team with 27 RBI. Cheryl Lopez has seen the most time on the mound, recording a 6.42 ERA while throwing 40 strikeouts and giving up 113 hits. The pitching staff averages a 6.28 ERA through the 38 games.
