Bulldogs gear up for Sunday match up with Wagner

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University softball team travels to Staten Island, N.Y. for a conference doubleheader with Wagner on Sunday afternoon.

SERIES HISTORY

  • Sunday marks the 19th all-time meeting between Bryant and Wagner. The Bulldogs lead the series, 11-7.

SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS

  • The Seahawks enter the weekend, 8-17, and 1-1 in Northeast Conference play. Wagner will endure a double header on Saturday before meeting with Bryant. In the NEC, Wagner split with Mount St. Mary's in its only NEC matchup so far this season.
  • Senior Karen Prihoda leads the Seahawks on the offensive end, posting a .372 batting average with 29 hits and five RBIs. Prihoda is second in the NEC 1.12 runs per game and .48 stolen bases.
  • Kayla Hooks is the main pitcher for Wagner tossing 47.2 innings so far this season. She leads the team with three wins compiling 21 strikeouts.
  • Wagner is led by head coach Lindsey Ubron.

BULLDOGS NOTES AND NOTEABLES

  • As a team, the Bulldogs are second in the conference with a .966 fielding percentage and 1.41 stolen bases a game.
  • Freshman Toni Camarillo (Corona, Calif.) has moved to the number one spot in the conference, 40th in the country, as the toughest player to strikeout. In 94 at bats, Camarillo has only struck out four times in her career.
  • Junior Gabrielle Ermish (Pottstown, Pa.) is ranked third in the conference for walks allowed per seven innings with 1.74.
  • Sophomore Morgan Powell (Murrieta, Calif.) leads the Bulldogs with 27 hits and an OBP of.373. Most recently against UMass Lowell, Powell was four-for-five from the plate with four runs scored.
  • This is the best start to conference play that the Bulldogs have ever had since 2014 posting a conference record of 3-1.
