Dawgs lose close one to UNC, and fall to UGA on Friday

ATHENS, GA. – Kylie Kenney of the Bryant Univeristy softball team held the Tar Heels of North Carolina to two runs in the 2-0 loss in game one of the Georgia Classic Showcase.

The Bulldogs fell to Georgia 18-0 in the day's second game.

"Super proud of the effort we had today for the first day out. We battled hard against a good team and had runners on base all day. It was a really positive start."

  • The Bulldogs had the bases loaded on two separate occasions, but were unable to score.

  • In the top of the first, the Tar Heels hit a one-out RBI double to score the game's first runs.
  • The Tar Heels scored one run in the top of the sixth on a sacrifice fly to take a 2-0 lead.

  • Georgia didn't allow a hit during the game.

How it Happened (Game 2)

  • UGA hit a sac-fly in the bottom of the first, grounded into a fielder's choice, and then launched a three-run home run to center to take a 5-0 lead.
  • UGA scored on a fielder's choice and then hit a triple with the bases loaded, clearing the bases in the bottom of the second (9-0).
  • Georgia scored nine runs in the bottom of the fourth on a single, two doubles, a sac-fly, a walk, and a grand-slam ending the game after five innings.

  • Josie Gex struck out two batters in her first career appearance.
