Gardner goes yard twice in losses to Coppin State and Towson

BALTIMORE, MD. - Jenna Gardner went 3-4 with two home runs and three RBIs in the Bryant University Softball team's losses to Coppin State and Towson today at the DeMarini Tiger Clash.

Key Moment (GM1)

  • CSU hit a two-run home run with two outs in the seventh to extend their lead to three (6-3).

How it Happened (GM1)

  • Gardner and Courtney Paolantonio hit back-to-back singles to begin the bottom of the first. Both runners would advance on a wild pitch, which set up Megan Marcel, who hit a sacrifice fly (1-0).
  • The Eagles responded with an RBI single to right, bringing home two in the top of the second (2-1).
  • CSU would score two more runs in the top of the fourth inning on a bunt single and a fielder's choice (4-1).
  • Aleix Hudson cut the deficit to two herself with a solo shot to left during the bottom of the fifth (4-2).
  • With one out in the bottom of the sixth, Ava Paganis ripped a triple to right field. Paganis was then brought home by an Alyssa Garabedian sac fly, reducing the Eagle's lead to one (4-3).
  • CSU countered with a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning (6-3).

  • The Bulldogs scored seven straight runs after the Warriors tied it at one.

How it Happened (GM2)

  • Gardner launched a two-out solo home run in the top of the third for the game's first run (1-0).
  • The Tigers responded with a solo shot of their own in the bottom of the third (1-1).
  • Towson would then score two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead (3-1).
  • Olivia Fee began the top of the sixth with a leadoff single, which set up Gardner, who knocked her second homer of the day to tie the game at three (3-3).
  • The Tigers countered with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth (4-3)
