Rohwer goes yard and Kenney pitches CG in victory against Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, MD. On Saturday, The Bryant University softball team defeated Maryland 5-3 during day two of the Maryland Softball Tournament.

Sam Rohwer hit a two-run home run in the victory, and Kylie Kenney dealt a complete game, allowing four hits.

This is the Bulldog's first victory against a BIG10 opponent since 2014.

How it Happened

  • In the top of the first inning, Hannah Cochran hit a leadoff single, and Faith Valenzuela hit a double to advance Cochran to third base. Aleix Hudson then hit a double to right-center, bringing home two runs (2-0). Rohwer then hit a two-run home run to left field, giving the Bulldogs a 4-0 lead.
  • Maryland countered with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning (4-2).
  • Valenzuela hit a leadoff single to begin the top of the third inning. Alexis Clancy then hit a single, leading to the Bulldog's fifth run on a fielder's choice (5-2).
  • Maryland scored the game's final run on a single in the top of the third, leading to a Bulldog victory.
