Bulldogs split at Maine on Sunday

ORONO, ME. – Grace McKillop of the Bryant University softball team tallied a career-high eight strikeouts, while Makenna Coleman and Aleix Hudson combined for seven RBIs in the 10-2 game-one victory on the road against Maine.

The Black and Gold fell 5-1 in game two.

• The Bulldogs scored seven runs in the fifth inning.

How it  (GM1)

• Megan Marcel hit a single with one out in the top of the second, which was followed by two walks. This set up Makenna Coleman, who hit an RBI single through the left side for the game's first run (1-0).
• In the bottom of the third inning, Maine tied the game at one on a wild pitch.
• Alexis Larrow hit a leadoff single and was then pinch-ran for by Alyssa Garabedian. Sam Rohwer was hit by a pitch, and Gracie Bishop laid down a sac-bunt, advancing the runners to first and third. Coleman then slapped a double to the gap, clearing the bases in the top of the fourth inning (3-1).
• In the top of the fifth inning, the Bulldogs scored four consecutive runs on three walks and a passed ball before Hudson hit a bases-clearing RBI double to cap off a seven-run inning (10-1).

• Maine scored two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI double with two outs (5-0).
• In the top of the seventh inning, Faith Valenzuela hit a sac fly for the game's last run (5-1).
