Alie sets school record at Yale Invite

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Junior Peter Alie (Stoneham, Mass.) broke the school record in the high jump as the Bryant University men's and women's indoor track & field teams opened 2014 at the Yale Invitational on Saturday.

Alie's program record height of 1.94m earned him a fourth-place finish, joining four other Bulldogs that finished in the top 10. The high jump record had stood since 2006 when Mike Morgan set the mark at 6'4" but Alie's height of 6'4.25" was just enough to break it.

Also joining Alie with top-10 finishes was Nick Todman (Danbury, Conn.), Brian Sullivan (Hingham, Mass.), Adam Malone (Speonk, N.Y.) and Jonee Harrison (Dorchester, Mass.). Todman and Sullivan finished 6-7 in the weight throw with distances of 14.98m and 14.39m, respectively. Malone finished third in the triple jump with a personal best distance of 14.00m and Harrison finished seventh in the weight with a distance of 14.37m.

The Bulldogs return to the track this weekend as they compete in the Sorlien Invitational hosted by URI in Kingston, R.I.
