Bulldogs excel in final tune-up for championship season

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Junior Annmarie Tuxbury (New Hartford, Conn.) and classmate Adam Malone (Speonk, N.Y.) each picked up first place finishes to pace the Bryant University track and field team in their final tune-up for the NEC Championships on Friday night at the Skyhawk Invitational.

The Bulldog women finished sixth with 35 points, while the men finished third with 95 points. Bryant will compete in the NEC Championships this upcoming weekend in Emmitsburg, Md.

Tuxbury won the 3000 with a time of 10:05.87. Her time is the third-fastest in Bryant's history. Malone picked up a first-place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 14.07m. He also finished fifth in the long jump with a distance of 6.52m.

Top Performers:

MiaLynne Park (Jewett City, Conn.) and Kristen Hayes (Menands, N.Y.) finished 3-4 in the 400m dash. Park posted a time of 57.87 and Hayes was right behind her at 58.02.

Martha Reynolds (London, England) finished seventh in the 1500 with a time of 4:50.58.

Rebecca Nunez (Greenwich, R.I.) finished seventh in the 400m high hurdles with a time of 1:09.12.

Nicole Dempsey (Norwell, Mass.) posted a third-place finish in the long jump (5.22m).

Samantha Puckett (Canterbury, N.H.) finished sixth in the hammer throw with a distance of 42.36m.

Deion Raper (Brockton, Mass.) finished sixth in the 200 with a time of 23.49.

Nicholas Douglas (Shelton, Conn.) finished third in the 400 with a time of 50.75.

Justin Patterson (Marshfield, Mass.) ran to an eighth-place finish in the 400 with a time of 52.00.

Richard Landry (Holyoke, Mass.) finished seventh in the 1500 with a time of 4:05.74.

Peter Thorp (Ormond Beach, Fla.) claimed second place in the 110m hurdles (15.83).

Antonio Siracusa (Bridgewater, Mass.) finished fourth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.10.

Milan Duka (Belgrade, Serbia) and Russell Stevens (Colchester, Conn.) finished 1-2 in the steeple chase with times of 10:09.77 and 10:30.96, respectively.

Frankie Ray (Westport, Mass.) finished fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.72m.

Hayes Watson (Glastonbury, Conn.) finished second in the pole with a height of 4.30m, just shy of his own school record.

Mike Cooke (Wrentham, Mass.) finished third in the shot put with a throw of 13.30m.
