Bryant enters URI Coaches Tribute Meet in final indoor tune-up

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The Bryant University track & field team will compete in its final indoor meet before the Northeast Conference Championships as the team will enter the URI Coaches Tribute hosted by the University of Rhode Island. The event is set to start at 3 p.m and will be held at URI's Mackal Field House.

"This weekend is our final tune-up before the NEC Indoor Championships next week," Bryant head track & field coach Mitchell Switzer said. "It's also the first time in two weeks where the entire team will be competing together at the same venue.  I expect the team to really use the opportunity we have together this week to go out and compete as a team in preparation for next week."

Both the men's and women's teams are set to compete in 13 events each. On the women's side, sophomore Olivia Weiss (Newton, N.J.) is set to compete in the mile and 800-meter runs, just a week after being named All-New England in the 1,000 meters.

Freshman Camryn Wesoloskie (Manchester, Conn.) is slated to run in three events: the long jump, the triple jump, and the 60-meter dash. Wesoloskie has the eighth-longest distance in the triple jump at Bryant, setting a mark of 9.87 meters earlier this season.

Joining Wesoloskie in the 60-meter dash will be freshmen Kathryn O'Connor (Windham, N.H.) and Megan Parker (Middletown, Conn.), senior Shannon Gay (Woburn, Mass.), junior Shirley Carrington (Dorchester, Mass.).

The quartet of freshman Jacklyn Sullivan (Plymouth, Mass.) senior Melissa Lodge (Hopkinton, Mass.), senior Sarah Lapham (Greenwich, N.Y.) and Weiss are entering the 4x400 meter relay. The same team set the program record in the 4x800 relay earlier this season. Sullivan will also enter the 400-meter dash.

On the men's side, freshman Anthony Holloway (Forked River, N.J.) and sophomore James Giumetti (Duxbury, Mass.) are each slated to enter three events: the 60-meter dash, the long jump, and the triple jump.

Joining the duo in the 60-meter dash will be senior Andrew Franco (Ridgefield, Conn.), juniors Evan Smith (Chester, Conn.) and Adam Winiarz (Norton, Mass.), and sophomore Turner Davis (Westbrook, Conn.).

The men's squad of senior Ryan Poholek (North Attleboro, Mass.), Christopher Wrenn (Norton, Mass.), Jordan Dagrin (Providence, R.I.), and Brian Salit (Seekonk, Mass.) are entered into the 4x400 relay. Both Poholek and Dagrin will also compete in the 800-meter run, while Salit and Wrenn will both enter the 500-meter dash along with sophomore Cole Hollis (North Smithfield, R.I.).
