Six Bulldogs head to ECAC/IC4A Championships on Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University track & field team will conclude its indoor campaign on starting Saturday when the Bulldogs head to Boston University to compete in the IC4A/ECAC Championships. The meet will begin with trial heats on Saturday and end with finals on Sunday.

"We have had a record-setting indoor season including our highest number of qualifying times ever for this meet," Bryant head track & field coach Mitchell Switzer said. "It's very exciting to have a group this large representing Bryant at the ECAC/IC4A Championships and a great way to cap off our Indoor season."

Bryant had student-athletes qualify for nine events, including senior Ryan Poholek (North Attleboro, Mass.) and sophomore Jacklyn Sullivan (Plymouth, Mass.), who each qualified for multiple. Poholek qualified in both the 800-meter and mile but will just be entering the mile. Sullivan qualified for two individual events, the mile and 800-meter, and one relay, the women's distance medley, but will just compete in the 800-meter run.

Joining Sullivan in the women's mile is senior Melissa Lodge (Hopkinton, Mass.), who qualified for the event by running a time of 4:55.66 en route to a gold medal at the Northeast Conference Indoor Championships.

Sophomore Emily Cluck (Johnson City, N.Y.) qualified for the 400-meter dash after running a 55.66 at the NEC Championships two weeks ago. Cluck earned a silver medal in the event.

Bryant will enter sophomore Olivia Weiss (Newtown, N.J.) into the 1000-meter run. Weiss qualified for the event at the NEICAAA Championships when she finished the event with a time of 2:55.57.

Bryant's field entrant will be freshman Chris Fasano (Lake Grove, N.Y.) in the shot put. Fasano, who holds the school-record in the event, qualified with a distance of 15.70 meters, winning him gold at the NEC Championships.

The women's distance medley relay quartet of Lodge, Weiss, Cluck, and Sullivan qualified for the event by winning the DMR at the NEC Championships with a time of 11:59.22. The time broke an NEC Championships record that was set in 2012.

The meet is set to begin at 9:30 on Saturday morning at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center.
