Fasano, Poholek named NEC weekly award winners

SOMERSET, N.J. – Senior Ryan Poholek (Attleboro, Mass.) and freshman Chris Fasano (Lake Grove, N.Y.) were named men's track athlete and rookie of the week, respectively, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Poholek led the Bulldogs with a second-place finish in the 800m, finishing in 1:51.99. The senior's time places him second all-time on Bryant's performance list only to a record set back in 1986. Poholek's top times in the 800m, 1500m and mile all pace the Black and Gold heading into the Northeast Conference Championships.

Fasano topped the shot put leaderboard at the Skyhawk Invite on Saturday, with his third throw landing at 15.91m, which is a new Bulldog program record. It is also good for an IC4A qualifier.

The freshman earned his second Rookie of the Week honor of the season and the second for the Bulldogs during the outdoor calendar.

Bryant will compete at the Northeast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on March 5 and 6, held at Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, Md.
