Ocean State Invitational next stop for Bryant

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University outdoor track and field team is set to compete in Providence, R.I. this weekend at the Ocean State Invitational. Along with Bryant, the meet will consist of Assumption, Brown, Boston College, Boston University, Brandeis, Columbia, Holy Cross, UMass Lowell, New Hampshire, Northeastern, Providence, Quinnipiac, Rhode Island, Stonehill College, Stony Brook, and Suffolk.

BULLDOGS NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • After coming in first at the Black and Gold Invitational, Emily Cluck (Johnson City, N.Y.) is set to compete again in the 400-meter. This season she set a season-best 55.93 during the outdoor season. 
  • Ellie Goyette (Lowell, Mass.) has posted the best 800-meter time on the women's side this season, setting a PR of 2:31.38 most recently at the UMass Invitational. Sophomore Kierstin Lock (Salem, N.H.) and freshman Sarah Freeman (Merrimac, Mass.) will accompany Goyette in the event. 
  • No Bulldog has competed in the mile run this season on both the men's and women's side. At the Ocean State Invitational, Breann Campise (Tolland, Conn.), Jordan Dagrin (North Kingstown, R.I.), William Bittrich (Duxbury, Mass.), and Bodie Avery (Fairlee, Vt.) will represent the Black and Gold in the mile. 
  • Three freshmen will compete in the 100-meter this weekend, including Nicole Xiarhos (Berlin, Conn.), Ana Lucas (Wakefield, Mass.), and Rebecca Reynolds (Tewksbury, Mass.)
  • Laura Rizik (Oradell, N.J.) is set to compete in two field events this weekend, including hammer and discus throw. Rizik threw a personal-best of 34.98 meters in the hammer throw event at the Black and Gold Invitational. Her best throw in Discus came at Charleston Southern with a PR of 34.64 meters. Victoria Whitham (Newton, Mass.) will also represent the Black and Gold in the hammer throw event. 
  • On the men's side, senior Alec Binette (Glastonbury, Conn.) and freshman Andrew Canale (Lincroft, N.J.) will run side-by-side in the 400-meter. The duo will also be part of the 4x100 team consisting of Adam Winiarz (Norton, Mass.) and Josh Pestana (Plymouth, Mass.) as well. 
  • Multiple Bulldogs are set to compete in the men's 5,000-meter, including Noah Tellier (North Kingstown, R.I.), Matt McGovern (Long Beach, N.Y.), Robert McCabe (Marlborough, Mass.), and Ben Carlson (Middletown, Conn.)
  • For field events, Chris Fasano (Lake Grove, N.Y.) leads the Bulldogs is set to compete in both discus and shot put. Fasano set both of his PRs last season as a freshman but posts a season-high 14.41 meters in shot put and 44.06 meters in discus, both set at the Black and Gold Invitational.
