Duke, Lowell up next for Bulldogs

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University outdoor track and field team is dividing and conquering this weekend as a group of Bulldogs are set to compete in the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C., while the other half takes the short trip to UMass Lowell to compete in the George Davis Invitational.

BULLDOGS NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • Sophomore Kathryn O'Connor (Windham, N.H.) is set to compete in both the 100m and the 200m dash at UMass Lowell this weekend. Freshman Nicole Xiarhos (Berlin, Conn.) will run alongside O'Connor in the 200-meter.
  • The 800-meter run is packed with Bulldogs, including Sarah Freeman (Merrimac, Mass.)Ellie Goyette (Lowell, Mass.), Kierstin Lock (Salem, N.H.), Breann Campise (Tolland, Conn.), and Julia Ayres (Collegeville, Pa.).
  • Freshman Laura Rizik (Oradell, N.J.) will represent the Black and Gold in three events this weekend at UML. Rizik is set to compete alongside Courtney Kelleher (Wrentham, Mass.) in shot put and will compete solo in discus and hammer throw.
  • On the men's side at Lowell, Josh Pestana (Plymouth, Mass.) and Joel Urizar (Fairfield, Conn.) will all compete in both the 100 and the 200-meter dash.
  • Jacob Borgia (Westborough, Mass.) is back after breaking the program record in pole vault last weekend. Borgia and Nicholas Curci (Jupiter, Fla.) will compete in the pole vault event at UMass Lowell on Saturday.
  • Heading to Duke is Jason Dolan (Westford, Mass.), Christopher Wrenn (Norton, Mass.), Brian Salit (Seekonk, Mass.), Andrew Canale (Lincroft, N.J.), Alec Binette (Glastonbury, Conn.), and Adam Winiarz (Norton, Mass.).
  • Binette, Winiarz, Canale, and Wrenn make up a 4x400 relay team competing at Duke.
  • Dolan, Wrenn, and Salit will all compete in the 800-meter while Dolan is also set to compete in the 1500m.
  • Along with the relay, Canale, Binette, and Winiarz are all set to run in the 200-meter. Canale and Binette will also compete in the 400m while Winiarz will represent Bryant in the 100m as well.

The Bulldogs stay in New England next weekend as the team heads to Stonehill College for the Skyhawk Invitational.
