Full weekend ahead for Bulldogs

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University outdoor track and field team heads to both the NEICAAA Championship as well as the ECAC/IC4A Championship this weekend.

BULLDOGS NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • Josh Pestana (Plymouth, Mass.) qualified for the 400-meter at the NEC Championship where the sophomore ran to a 15th-place finish in the preliminary heat. Pestana set a new PR of 50.30.
  • Sophomore Jordan Dagrin (North Kingstown, R.I.) is set to compete in the 1500-meter after finishing in top 15 at NECs. Dagrin's best performance in the 1500m occurred in Smithfield at the Black and Gold Invitational with a time of 3:59.82.
  • Chris Fasano (Lake Grove, N.Y.) will compete in both shot put and discus at NEICAAA after medaling at the NEC Championship. Fasano walked away with a bronze medal after a 15.78m mark in shot put.
  • Earlier this season, Jacob Borgia (Westborough, Mass.) broke the program record at Bryant in pole vault with a 4.45m mark at the Ocean State Invitational. Borgia and Nicholas Curci will both represent the Black and Gold this weekend.
  • On the women's side, freshman Julia Ayres (Collegeville, Pa.) qualified for NEICAAA in the 5,000-meter. Ayres set a new personal-best with a time of 18:34.95.
  • Sophomore Courtney Kelleher (Wrentham, Mass.) scored for the Bulldogs at NECs in shot put with an 11.99m mark. Kelleher will compete again this weekend in the shot put event.
