Hope and Thomas shine for Bulldogs in 2024 debut

BOSTON, MASS.- The Bryant University track and field teams started 2024 off on a high note with an impressive outing at the UMass Flagship Invitational at The Track at New Balance.

The Bulldogs set two school records and had 21 new additions to the All-Time Top 10 list. Senior Jasmine Hope put together a stellar performance in the long jump; finishing second overall and setting the school record with a mark of 5.74m. Graduate student Kasey Thomas would also continue her remarkable season after setting the school record for the women's shot put for the third consecutive meet.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Aliya Barrows placed 5th overall in the 800m with a time of 2:14.64 (3rd all-time for the Bulldogs).

  • Shelby Degrenier would improve her PR in the 800m (2:17.42) by 12 seconds to finish 7th overall. She now ranks 6th all-time for the Black and Gold. 

  • Ethan Ferraiola finished 6th in the 400m with a time of 48.94.

  • Ryan Slaney posted a time of 8:27.64 in the 3000m to finish 5th overall.

  • Savannah Pineda placed 9th in the 200m with a time of 25.38 (5th all-time for Bulldogs).

  • Nathan Miller and Andrew Gleason each put together all-time top 10 performances in the 60m dash. Miller posted a time of 7.16 to tie him 5th all-time. Gleason is now tied 8th all-time after running a 7.17.  

What's next: Bryant will travel to North Kingston to compete in the URI Invitational on Saturday, January 20th.
