Track and Field closes out weekend with 2 school records, 15 Top 10's between Bucknell and Merrimack

LEWISBURG, PA/NORTH ANDOVER MASS.- The Bryant University Track and Field team broke two school records and had 18 all-time top ten performances this past weekend between the Bucknell Outdoor Classic and the Merrimack Alumni Classic. Graduate student Aliya Barrows continued her remarkable graduate season with the Bulldogs and broke the school record in the women's 800m with a time 2:10.16. She improves from fourth best all-time and also secures her second school record with the Black and Gold after claiming the top spot in the 500m during the past indoor season. Jasmine Trott also reset her school record in the women's 10,000m, improving on her previous mark by over 50 seconds.

Bucknell Notes and Notables

  • Aidan Hickey surpassed his 2022 mark in the men's 1,500m by 4 seconds to move to 2nd all-time with a time of (3:51.34).

  • Christina Capozzi improved to tied 3rd all-time in the women's 100m dash after running 12.15.

  • The Black and Gold had four runners make new additions to the top 10 in the 800m. Alongside Barrows school record, Shelby DeGrenier ran 2:15.99 (6th all-time) and makes her first ever appearance in the record book for the event. Marissa Crowley moves from 9th to 8th place after running 2:17.24 and Kayla Ondy moves to 9th all-time after finishing in 2:18.28

  • Luke Silva earned his way into the top 10 for the men's 800m, finishing in 1:54.29 (9th all-time).

  • Bethany Marsella set a new PR in the women's 100m hurdles and remains 4th all-time in the event.

Merrimack Notes and Notables

  • Diogo Silva places third overall in the men's 100m dash. He is now ranks 9th all-time for the Black and Gold.

  • Lucas Kehoe cleared a height of 1.95m in the men's high jump and is now tied for 2nd all-time.

  • Hannah Mcentee improves to 5th all-time in the women's javelin after throwing 37.20m, she placed third overall at the meet.

  • The men's and women's teams both  finished 3rd overall on Sunday.

What's next: Bryant will compete in the George Davis invitational next weekend which is hosted by conference rival, UMass Lowell. The meet will run from Friday April 19th through Saturday the 20th.
