Klein earns NEC Player of the Week

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant women's basketball senior forward Alex Klein (Waterloo, Ont.) earned Northeast Conference Player of the Week after totaling her fourth 20+ point game, scoring 26 against UMass Lowell.

Klein powered Bryant to a home win in its non-conference finale, pouring in a game-high 26 points against the River Hawks. Accounting for 35.6 percent of the team's scoring output, the senior post player shot 48 percent from the floor during the 72-63 victory. The 6-foot-1 forward also pulled down three rebounds in 28 minutes of action. After missing her first three field goal attempts of the game, Klein quickly settled in and scored 10 of the Bulldogs' 22 first-quarter points. The Canadian-born forward tied the game at 2-2 with a layup 1:22 into the opening period and the Bulldogs never trailed again. Klein was also responsible for Bryant's first six points of the second half going 2-for-3 from the field and 2-for-2 from the stripe during the first 1:52 of the third quarter. She leads Bryant in scoring average (17.0 ppg), and ranks second amongst NEC leaders, following 11 non-league games.
