SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Four Bulldogs scored in double figures as the Bryant University women's basketball team topped the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers, 73-63, on Monday night at the Chace Athletic Center in Smithfield.

KEY MOMENTS

  • Senior Kathleen Everson (Farmingville, N.Y.) beat the buzzer in the first and second quarters to give the Bulldogs momentum heading into the two breaks. Everson finished with a career-high 14 points.
  • Junior Kierra Palmer (Aberdeen, Md.) hit two-consecutive 3-point baskets midway through the second quarter to bring the Bulldogs lead from two points to eight. Palmer shot 3-of-5 from long range in the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Sophomore Sydney Holloway (Morgantown, W.Va.) scored the opening basket 16 seconds into the game to give the Bulldogs a lead that they would never surrender. Bryant would outscore St. Francis Brooklyn, 21-14, after the first frame.
  • Thanks to Palmer's pair of 3-pointers, the Bulldogs shot 40 percent from the floor in the second quarter and outscored the Terriers, 21-17.  
  • The Terriers won the third quarter, 21-10, thanks to Jade Johnson's six points. Johnson would finish with a game-high 21 points.
  • Holloway scored six of Bryant's 11 points in the final quarter to lead the Bulldogs to victory.

STATS

  • Palmer had a game-high eight assists, her fifth-consecutive game with at least five assists.
  • Bryant won the rebounding battle with St. Francis Brooklyn, 36-27. Freshman Hannah Scanlan (Rumson, N.J.) had a game-high eight boards.
  • Redshirt junior Naomi Ashley (Hamilton, Ont.) scored nine points and had game-highs in steals with four and blocks with two.
  • Scanlan had 12 points versus St. Francis, her third-straight game in double-figures.

GAME NOTES

  • The four Bulldogs in double-figures was the most by Bryant since Nov. 21 when the team hosted New Hampshire.
  • Bryant has shot at least 33.3 percent from long range in its last four games.
  • The Bulldogs have outrebounded all conference opponents that they have played this season.
  • Bryant pushed its winning streak to five games with the win over the Terriers. The Black and Gold's starting lineup of Masey Zegarowski (Hamilton, Mass.), Palmer, Scanlan, Holloway, and Ashley are 5-0, having started the last five games.

Bryant heads on a two-game road swing beginning Saturday when the Bulldogs head to Pennsylvania to take on Robert Morris at 1 p.m. The team wraps up the trip Monday evening with Saint Francis U at 6 p.m.
