COACH BURKE'S COMMENTS
"I don't think we came out and played the first 20 minutes the way we're capable of," said Bryant head coach Mary Burke. "I actually thought we only played about 20 minutes of basketball, which was in the second half. In overtime, we basically came up empty."

KEY MOMENTS

  • Trailing by as many as eight, Holloway gave the Bulldogs their first lead since the first quarter when she scored on a layup at the 7:59 mark in the fourth quarter.
  • Fairleigh Dickinson scored the first points of the overtime period when Natalie Zamora connected on a jumper. FDU would relinquish the lead after Zamora's bucket.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The game was tight the whole way through, with Fairleigh Dickinson taking an early 15-14 advantage into the second quarter.
  • The one-point deficit carried into the half, as Bryant and FDU exchanged buckets throughout the second quarter. The Knights led at the half, 37-36.
  • FDU outscored Bryant, 24-41, in the third quarter as Holloway scored seven points. Junior Kierra Palmer (Aberdeen, Md.) had four of her eight total assists in the third frame.
  • Bryant forced overtime by outscoring the Knights, 14-10 in the final 10 minutes of regulation. Holloway added 10 points, while classmate Masey Zegarowski (Hamilton, Mass.) and Palmer each scored a basket.
  • FDU was able to create some distance in overtime, scoring 16 points in the final five minutes. Zamora scored nine of her 15 total points in the overtime period.

STATS

  • Three Bulldogs scored in double-figures on Saturday. Holloway posted a game-high 29, while freshman Hannah Scanlan (Rumson, N.J.) added 12 and redshirt junior Naomi Ashley (Hamilton, Ont.) scored 11.
  • Palmer's eight assists were a game-high. FDU as a team assisted on just nine shots.
  • FDU's Lauren Francillon led the Knights with 19 rebounds, half of the team's end total.

GAME NOTES

  • Holloway's 22 tied a program record. Former Bulldog Naana Ankoma-Mensa achieved the feat twice, last on March 3, 2014, at Central Connecticut. She also has the most rebounds in a game by any NEC player this season.
  • The sophomore's 29 points were the most in a game since Jenniqua Bailey scored 35 versus Providence on Nov. 30, 2014.
  • Bryant's 52 rebounds were the most by the team this season. The Bulldogs also reached 50 at Saint Francis U on Jan. 29.
