Bulldogs visit Sacred Heart on Sunday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Bryant University women's basketball team looks to snap a two-game losing streak as they meet with Sacred Heart on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. for the first time this season.

THE MATCHUP
The Bulldogs meet with Sacred Heart for the first time this season on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. in Fairfield. The Pioneers hold the all-time series record, 17-6, after sweeping Bryant in both meetings last season. 

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Sacred Heart is currently on a six-game losing streak after falling to Merrimack on Friday, 59-45. The Pioneers match the Bulldogs with an 8-17 overall record but hold a 5-9 mark against the NEC.

As a team, the Pioneers lead the conference with110 blocked shots and 4.4 blocked shots per game. Junior Olivia Dabney leads the team with 35 on the year and 1.5 a night, but junior Abigail Kangudie leads against conference opponents averaging 1.7 against the NEC. On the offensive end, junior Adrianne Hagood leads the team with 16 points per game, but has missed four games in the conference schedule and just returned most recently against Merrimack. 

LAST TIME OUT: ST. FRANCIS BROOKLYN
The Bulldogs lost an 11-point third-quarter advantage at St. Francis Brooklyn when the Terriers shot lights out from behind the arc in the second half. Bryant ended up dropping an 80-77 decision. Senior Sydney Holloway (Morgantown, W.Va.) led the Bulldogs for the third-straight game as she posted 19 points and 10 rebounds. Three other Bulldogs posted double-figures including Brooke Bjelko (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) with 16 points, Nicole Gallagher (Foxboro, Mass.) with 14, and Alana Perkins (Wauwatosa, Wis.) with 12. 

HOLLA!
Holloway has led the Bulldogs in Bryant's last four games averaging 20.5 points through that span. Holloway first emerged when she notched her first 20-point game of the season against St. Francis Brooklyn with 22 points and 14 rebounds. She followed up with 19 points at CCSU, 22 against Merrimack, and another 19-point performance most recently at St. Francis Brooklyn. Within those four games, Holloway posted two double-doubles as both of them came against the Terriers.

BLOCK PARTY
Bryant broke its Division I single-game team block record against Albany on Dec. 20. The Bulldogs tallied nine team blocks led by Trinity Bravo (Bridgeport, Conn.) with four. The previous record was set on two different occasions in 2017 against LIU Brooklyn and Robert Morris with seven. Since December, Bjelko and Bravo had continued to lead the team in blocks. Bjelko has posted two four-block performances while Bravo has posted one. Bjelko leads the team with 22 on the year followed by Bravo with 19.

THREE'S A COMPANY
The Bulldogs posted at least three double-digit scorers in 15 games so far this season. The Bulldogs are 4-5 when posting three double-digit scorers and 2-4 when posting four double-digit scorers in a single game. The last time Bryant posted three-plus double-digit scorers was at St. Francis Brooklyn led by Holloway with 19. Bjelko added 16 followed by Gallagher with 14. Perkins added 12.
