Bjelko earns second-straight NEC nod

SOMERSET, N.J. – Senior Brooke Bjelko earned her second-straight Northeast Conference Player of the Week nod after a dominating performance at Iona to help the Bryant University women's basketball team defeat the Gaels, 62-46. This week's NEC Player of the Week is brought to you by Pilot Pen.

Bjelko poured in a career-best 29 points off 12-of-23 shooting which was good for 52.2 percent. The 6-3 center also tied her career-best of 16 rebounds and added a season-best three blocks. Iona had no answers for Bjelko who was able to do it all on the court and aid in Bryant's largest scoring runs, including a 19-1 second-quarter push where Bjelko netted eight.

The Plattsburgh native ranks fourth nationally with 50 rebounds and averages a double-double of 17.3 ppg and 12.5 rebounds per game. Friday's double-double was Bjelko's third in the first four games of the season and eighth of her career.
