Bjelko earns third consecutive NEC Player of the Week

SOMERSET, N.J. – Senior center Brooke Bjelko earned Northeast Conference Player of the Week for the third week in a row as announced Monday by the conference.

In a pair of NEC victories to open conference play, Bjelko posted back-to-back 19-point performances including a double-double with 12 rebounds in game one against St. Francis Brooklyn on Tuesday night. In the first game against the Terriers, the senior captain went eight-for-12 from the field including three-of-five from the charity stripe. She also pulled down 12 rebounds and dished out two assists, but what was more impressive was her seven blocks that tied Bryant's Division I single-game record. Bjelko now sits next to Siamone Bennett '11 who set the record at LIU in 2009.

In game two of the two-game series, Bjelko shot seven-of-13 from the field and five-of-seven from the stripe. She was just one rebound away from her second-straight double-double with nine. The 6-3 center also posted two blocks, one steal, and one assist to help in Bryant's best start to the NEC schedule since 2015. Bjelko is the first player in Bryant's D1 history to earn three-straight NEC Player of the Week honors.

Sophomores Nicole Gallagher and Alana Perkins also earned NEC Prime Performer honors for a double-figure scoring average after the first week of NEC play.
