Bryant heads to SHU on New Year's Eve

FAIRFIELD, CONN. - The Bryant University women's basketball team heads to Connecticut to face-off against Sacred Heart for a Northeast Conference matchup on New Year's Eve.

THE SERIES
The Bulldogs are 6-21 all-time against the Pioneers. Bryant fell to SHU by scores of 64-40 and 58-44 in their doubleheader matchups last season. Brooke Bjelko led in scoring for both games with 16 and 12. 

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
SHU comes into Friday's matchup with a 3-4 overall record. The Pioneers were granted a victory against LIU due to a forfeit. In their last game played against Boston College, Olivia Tucker led the way with 13 points. Sonia Smith is the leading scorer for SHU with 14.14 ppg. this mark ranks second in the NEC.

WHAT TO KNOW

  • Bjleko registered her fourth double-double of the season in the win against Central Connecticut (19 pts 16 rebs). She now leads the NEC in field goals made (63), FG% (46.7), and points with 150.
  • Fatou Jallow posted a season-high 13 points versus the Blue Devils. She also leads the Bulldogs in assists with 32 total and has dished out an assist in every game played this season.
  • Nicole Gallagher has been producing on the defensive side of the ball as she has recorded three steals in the last two games. Gallager has 13 overall this season.
  • Bryant outrebounded CCSU on Wednesday, which marked the seventh time this year the Bulldogs have outrebounded their opponent. It was also the second time the Black and Gold reached at least 50 rebounds (52).
  • Alana Perkins drilled three-pointers in the matchup against CCSU. Perkins has now hit at least three-pointers in eight games this year. She is currently shooting 36.5% from deep.
