Bryant faces Merrimack Thursday night in North Andover

NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. - The Bryant University women's basketball team heads to Massachusetts to face the Warriors of Merrimack for a Thursday evening Northeast Conference game.

THE SERIES
The Bulldogs are 31-20 all-time against the Warriors and have a record of 11-13 when playing in the Bay State.  The Black and Gold defeated Merrimack 73-67 at the Chace in the team's first matchup this season. Brooke Bjelko led all scorers with 17 points. Bryant shot 61% from three.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
Merrimack comes into Thursday's game with a 5-11 overall record and a conference record of 3-5. The Warriors defeated Wagner 68-57 in their most recent game on Sunday. Teneisia Brown led Merrimack in scoring with 18 points and nine rebounds. Mayson Kimball is averaging 13.3 ppg, which is top of the team. The Warriors are 2-3 this year in North Andover.

WHAT TO KNOW

  • Bjelko tallied 21 points in the loss to SFC on Sunday. She has now recorded three 20+ point games this season and eight in her career. She is also 12 points away from passing Danielle Douglas for 5th all-time on the DI program scoring list.
  • The Bulldogs are shooting 36.1% from three-point range this season, which ranks second in the NEC and 25th in the country. The Black and Gold have tallied at least 60% from beyond the arc in the last three games.
  • Mariona Planes Fortuny has been efficient from the field as she is shooting 70% (17-24) from the floor in her last four games and is averaging 8.7 points during that stretch.
  • Bryant is leading the NEC in total assists with 273 and ranks second in assists per game (14.4.). Both of those marks rank top-110 nationally.
  • The Black and gold have been taking care of the ball recently, as they haven't eclipsed 15 turnovers in the last three games played.
