Bryant loses to Maine on the road

ORONO, ME. - Mariona Planes Fortuny posted 15 points, five rebounds, and four blocks in the Bryant University women's basketball team's 66-43 road loss against Maine on Wednesday night.

How it Happened

  • Both defenses held strong to start the game as the Black Bears earned a slight 5-3 edge at the first media timeout. Nicole Gallagher made a triple on the dish from Lucie Castagne.
  • The Bulldogs closed out the first quarter on a 7-5 run making the deficit one (11-10) after the first quarter. Blanca Chasco score two, Alana Perkins nailed a three, and Dana Kiefer scored at the buzzer.
  • Maine went on the offensive, outscoring the Black and Gold 22-10 to produce a 33-20 lead at the half. Fortuny recorded six points, Gallagher tallied two, and Marta Neira Martinez posted two.
  • Bryant scored seven compared to Maines 10 in the first five minutes of the second half (43-27). Kemari Reynolds posted the first four points of the half for the Bulldogs, and Fortuny recorded a tough and-one.
  • The quarter remained close, with the Black Bears edging the Black and Gold 8-5 for the remainder of the third quarter (51-32). Perkins converted her second three of the game, and Gallagher and Reynolds each made one free throw.
