Bulldogs fall to UAlbany in close game at home

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Mariona Planes Fortuny of the Bryant University women's basketball team scored 26 points in the 64-62 loss at home to UAlbany.

Kemari Reynolds tied her career-high of 18 points.

How it Happened

  • The Bulldogs opened the game on a 17-8 run in the first seven and a half minutes. Fortuny tallied ten, Nia Scott posted four, and Reynolds registered three.
  • UAlbany closed out the first quarter on a 9-0 run to tie the game at 17 heading into the second quarter.
  • Fortuny scored four points to begin the second quarter, and the Great Danes matched to tie the game at 21 with seven minutes left in the half.
  • UAlbany earned a slight 13-10 advantage to end the half, resulting in a 34-31 deficit for the Bulldogs. Lucie Castagne posted two, Nia Scott had three, and Reynolds tallied five points.
  • The Black and Gold earned a 35-34 lead with seven minutes remaining off of baskets from Reynolds and Nia Scott.
  • The Great Danes then took a 38-35 lead at the six-minute mark before Reynolds hit a three to tie the game at 38.
  • Bryant tallied seven to UAlbany's six, giving the Bulldogs a 45-44 lead heading into the fourth.
  • Both teams were trading blows back and forth in the fourth quarter. The Black and Gold earned a 57-56 advantage with three minutes remaining.
  • UAlbany countered with a free throw to tie the game, then Fortuny hit a step-back jumper to give Bryant a two-point lead (59-57).
