BULLDOGS HOST SIENA TUESDAY (3 P.M.) IN 2011 HOME-OPENER

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – With two road games already in the books, the Bryant University women's lacrosse team will play host to Siena College Tuesday afternoon in the 2011 home-opener at the Turf Complex.

Tuesday's contest marks the third-straight year both programs have met, with the Saints taking the most recent head-to-head, 14-11, on March 3, 2010 in Loudonville, N.Y. Both sides combined for 55 shots while then-sophomore midfielder Lauren Sheridan (Bethpage, N.Y.) paced the Bulldogs with four goals on eight shots in the outing.

Bryant (0-2) is coming off its worst loss of the season after dropping a 22-7 decision to the United States Naval Academy on Feb. 25. The Bulldogs only mustered 14 groundballs compared to 24 for Navy, while being outshot by the Mids, 15- 35. The Mids, a team that received votes in the IWLCA top-20 preseason poll, won the draw control battle 19-12 and had seven different players with one goal.

Siena (0-2) enters Tuesday afternoon's matchup winless after dropping a 16-7 decision to UMass in the team's home-opener. The Saints were outshot 53-19 and were only able to clear 12 of 23 chances. UMass scooped up 10 more groundballs than the host Saints and rattled off nine goals before Siena could record its second, as the Minutewomen generated 32 shots in the first half.
