UC Davis scores game's final five goals in 11-7 win over the Bulldogs

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Elizabeth Datino (Centenniel, Colo.) scored three goals and added three assists to power visiting UC Davis to an 11-7 non-conference win over Bryant University Tuesday afternoon at the Bryant Turf Complex.

Bryant (1-7) fell behind early, as goals from Datino, Elizabeth Landry (Lafayette, Calif.) and Allie Lehner (Orange, Calif.) put the visitors up 3-0 quickly out of the gate.  But Bryant would quickly respond, scoring five-straight to take its first lead of the game.

Senior Mary Green (Merrick, N.Y.) got things rolling, scoring a free position goal in the 20th minute to finally put the Bulldogs on the board. Then, after an unassisted goal from Haley Bloom (Hauppauge, N.Y.) three minutes later, it was Green once again, collecting a pass from teammate Olivia McCarthy (Sea Girt, N.J.) and beating Aggie goalie Jordan Majka (Lake Forest, Ill.) to knot things up at 3-3.

The momentum continued, as Lisa Vendel (Sandy Hook, Conn.) scored moments later to make it 4-3.  But Vendel was not done just yet, as the sophomore midfielder took advantage of a draw control win, scoring her ninth goal of the season, just 15 seconds later, to give the Bulldogs a 5-3 lead.

UC Davis (5-4) would get an unassisted goal from Sara Quero (Pleasanton, Calif.) just six seconds before the halftime buzzer, beating Bryant goalie Lauren Filippone (West Babylon, N.Y.) with a high shot to make it a 5-4 game at the break.

In the second half, Green would make it a hat-trick afternoon scoring her third goal of the game (13th of the season) just two minutes in to give Bryant another two-goal lead to make it 6-4. But UC Davis would quickly tied things up at 6-6 with goals by Datino and Quero.

McCarthy helped the Bulldogs once again regain the lead at 7-6, this time with a pretty goal with 20 minutes to go in the game. But, from there it was all UC Davis, as the Aggies closed out the game with five unanswered goals to pull out the victory.

Majka finished with eight saves in net for the Aggies, while Fillipone made 13 stops between the pipes for the Bulldogs. For Datino, her three goals gives the junior 32 on the season to go with 26 assists.

Bryant will host Wagner College in a Northeast Conference game this Friday evening (7 pm) and host LIU-Brooklyn Sunday at 1 pm.  UC Davis will continue its three-game swing through the Northeast with a game Thursday at Vermont (12 pm ET).
