Women's lacrosse falls to Albany

Bulldogs host Yale Wednesday at 4 pm

ALBANY, NY – Despite a pair of goals from junior Kim Sniffen (Redding, Conn.), the Bryant University women's lacrosse team dropped a 15-4 nonconference decision at Albany on Saturday.

The Bulldogs (1-2) came into the game riding high following a big 15-12 win over Siena last week but struggled to find the net on Saturday against the Great Danes. Albany jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on the visiting Bulldogs in the first three minutes of the game before Sniffen notched an unassisted tally to make it 2-1 with 21 minutes to go in the first half.

Albany (2-1) would answer with four-straight goals, including a pair from Rachael Burek to extend the lead to 6-1 before Bryant freshman Morgan LaBarbera (New Fairfield, Conn.) would break the run with an unassisted goal, her third of the season, to make it 6-2 with six minutes to play in the half.

After a goal from Albany's Burek to open the second, Bryant junior midfielder Kate Keckeisen (Danbury, Conn.) beat Great Dane goalie Anna Berman with a shot to pull the Bulldogs to within 7-3.  But that would be as close as Bryant would get as Albany scored the next three and closed the game with five, unanswered goals en route to the victory.

Bryant was out-shot 32 to 12 in the game and turned the ball over 14 times. Junior Brianna Watt (Babylon, NY) made 10 saves in net for the Bulldogs who will return home to host Yale Wednesday afternoon (4 pm) at the Turf Field Complex.
