Santeramo garners NEC, ECAC Rookie of the Week honors

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- With a pair of solid complete-game efforts to lead the Bulldogs to their second-straight Northeast Conference regular-season crown, Bryant University women's lacrosse freshman goalie Samantha Santeramo (Wantagh, N.Y.) was named the NEC and ECAC Rookie of the Week.

Santeramo was stalwart between the pipes as the Bulldogs clinched their second-consecutive title. With the right to host the NEC Tournament at stake, the freshman shut down Wagner in an 8-4 win on Friday afternoon. She made seven saves and held the Seahawks, who were previously unbeaten in NEC play, to a season-low four goals. Santeramo was impressive again on Sunday despite an overtime loss to Mount St. Mary's, making another seven stops. Santeramo finished the week with a .519 save percentage and picked up three ground balls to go along with a caused turnover.

The top-seeded Bulldogs will host fourth-seeded Robert Morris Friday at 4:00 p.m. in the first of two NEC Semifinal matchups at the Bryant Turf Complex.
