Breglia earns first NEC Rookie of the Week accolade

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Ranking second on the team and among league freshmen in scoring, Bryant University women's lacrosse attack Caitlin Breglia (Long Beach, N.Y.) has earned her first Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week honor.

Breglia set a career high with seven points in the Bulldogs' 19-5 win over Central Connecticut Friday afternoon at home. On her way to a five-goal performance, she opened the game's scoring on an unassisted tally only 39 seconds after the opening draw.  It took her fewer than eight minutes to complete a hat trick, as her third tally gave Bryant a 6-0 advantage with 22:34 left in the first half.

Breglia, who added two draw controls and a ground ball, scored all five goals before halftime as the Bulldogs took a 13-2 lead into the break. The five-tally output also tied her career best.

The Bulldogs return to action Friday, when they take on Saint Francis U. in the first of two weekend road games in western Pennsylvania.
