Carly Cronin ('17) makes professional debut with UWLX's Boston Storm

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Senior captain and recent graduate Carly Cronin (Feeding Hills, Mass.) appeared in her first professional contest Saturday after becoming the first women's lacrosse player in Bryant history to be drafted into the United Women's Lacrosse League (UWLX).

Drafted in mid-April by the Boston Storm, Cronin joins the UWLX for its second season in 2017 after a stellar four-year career donning the Black and Gold. A three-time All-NEC selection and three-year starting defender, Cronin was a stalwart on the backline for a Bulldog team that won its fourth NEC Regular-Season crown and third NEC Tournament title in 2017.

Cronin led Bryant off the draw in 2017, pulling in 39 draw controls while ranking second on the side in ground balls (39) and caused turnovers (12). The 2017 graduate leaves the program ranked third in career games played (69), seventh in career draw controls (103), 12th in career ground balls (121) and 13th in career caused turnovers (55).

In her professional debut, Cronin helped lead the Storm to a 13-12 win over the Philadelphia Force.

The UWLX schedule continues through July, with the playoffs slated to begin July 29. The full schedule can be found here.
