Britton, Brown, Moss named as 2018 captains

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University women's lacrosse head coach Jill Batcheller announced three new captains for the 2018 season on Monday. Seniors Amanda Moss (Lebanon, N.J.) and Catlin Brown (San Diego, Calif.), along with junior Lauren Britton (Monmouth Beach, N.J.) were named captains for the Bulldogs' 2018 season.

"We are so fortunate to have such a motivated and vocal upperclassmen group this year who have already elevated our team's play," Batcheller said. "I believe that Cat, Amanda and Lauren will serve as excellent team captains to lead our team to continued success. The trio brings incredible energy, work ethic and communication that is evident every day. Together they are an infectious source of passion and positivity for the team. As a staff, we're excited to work alongside them towards our team goals."

Moss started all 18 games for the Bulldogs last season, collecting 12 ground balls and eight draw controls. She recorded two ground balls in last year's NEC semifinals against Sacred Heart and had a stretch of seven games where she recorded a ground ball in six of them.

Brown started 16 of the 18 contests for the Bulldogs in 2017, recording 46 points on 29 goals and 17 assists. She finished the season strong, scoring three goals in four of her last seven contests and started her year at the Bryant Track and Turf complex strong, tallying four goals in a 14-3 win over Holy Cross in the home opener.

Britton also started in 16 of the 18 games in the 2017 campaign, finishing the year with All-NEC Second Team honors, the second time she's been honored on a conference postseason team in as many years as a Bulldog. She was very active in the midfield last season, finishing with nine games in which she recorded both a ground ball and a draw control. Offensively, she finished the year with 19 points.

When play begins in February, these captains will be leading their Bulldogs back onto the field, looking for their third Northeast Conference Championship in the last four seasons.
