Rowing opens fall season at Sacred Heart

 

SHELTON, CT - The Bryant University women's rowing team competed in their first meet of the fall season this past weekend. The squad raced in the Varsity 8+, Varsity 4+, and Novice 4+ at the Heart of Housatonic hosted by Sacred Heart.

On a rainy Saturday, the Bulldogs 1V posted a 20:11 in the Varsity 8s, the 1V also clocked a 21:47 in the Varsity 4s. Meanwhile, the 2V put up a 22:41 in the Varsity 4s and the Novice 4s were the fastest on the water in a winding 5k course.

The Varsity 8s consisted of Gabrielle Martino at coxswain with Mollie Lyjte, Megan Hart, Erin Prouty, and Olivia Manuel in the stroke seats. There was one change in the Varsity 4s lineup. Sunny Keuchle replaced Manuel in the stroke seat. The Novice 4s lineup consisted of coxswain Madi Crouse and Bridget Moore, Brooke Hammond, Aine McIntyre, and Sarah Oakes in the stroke seats.

Coach's Comments on the race…

"For all but 3 of our athletes, this was their first Head Race experience, so I'm very pleased with how they approached it and that they are learning from every race opportunity, bettering the program each time."
