Bulldogs close season vs. CCSU Friday 3 p.m.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Looking to close out the season on a high note, the Bryant University women's soccer team will welcome Central Connecticut to Smithfield, Friday at 3 p.m. for the Bulldogs' season finale.

After a difficult weekend on the pitch, the Black and Gold will look to close out the 2013 campaign on a winning note.  On Friday, the Bulldogs held a 3-1 halftime lead over Wagner before allowing three unanswered goals in the second half and overtime.  Senior Julie Vajda (Midland Park, N.J.), and sophomores Allison DeBenedictis (Norwell, Mass) and Scout Benson (Lynnfield, Mass.) all scored their first goals of the season in the contest.

On Sunday, Bryant dropped another one-goal match to LIU Brooklyn, 3-2.  The Black and Gold rallied late in the second frame with a pair of scores from Vajda and Ari Goldberg (East Bridgewater, Mass.), but the late push wasn't enough to net the equalizer.

The Blue Devils head to Bryant with a 5-11 overall record and a 3-3 mark in the Northeast Conference, good for fifth place.  Fighting for their postseason lives, Central has won two of their last three matches with two contests left on their 2013 slate.  Junior Julie Lavoie and senior Jewel Robinson sit atop the Blue Devils leaderboard with six points apiece, while senior Nicole Dieter has logged every minute in net for Central. Last September, senior Shana Follette (Plymouth, Mass.) put home a game-winner in the 58th minute to clinch a 2-1 victory for the Bulldogs in New Britain, Conn.
