Bulldogs fall at Akron in 2015 season opener Friday night

SMITHFIELD, R.I. –The Bryant University women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to Akron in its season opener Friday evening at FirstEnergy Stadium.

 The Zips (1-0) went up 1-0 at half and put together three more goals in an eight minute span in the second period to seal the victory, while the Bulldogs (0-1) struggled to respond offensively.

Rachael Eck put Akron on the board in the 10th minute with her first goal of the season to give the hosts a slim lead through the first 45 minutes. The Bulldogs held the Zips scoreless for the next 50+ minutes but, Akron went on to score a trio of markers in an eight minute span securing the season opening victory.

Sophomore midfielder Hannah Crofut (East Amherst, N.Y.) logged the lone shot on goal for the Black and Gold, while Kaylan Conrad (Avon, Conn.) and Rachel Brightman (Rochester, N.Y.) split time between the pipes.

The Bulldogs look to capture their first win under first-year head coach Andy Biggs when they wrap up their Ohio road trip at Kent State on Sunday in a 1 p.m. start.
