Bulldogs drop to the Hawks on the road Sunday afternoon

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's soccer team fell to Hartford, 5-0, on the road Sunday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (1-6-0) kept the Hawks (5-1-0) off the board until the 27th minute, when Julia Carr capitalized on a Bryant penalty in the box.

The momentum stayed in Hartford's favor, as they found the back of the net two more times in the first half. Ashley Claud sent the ball across the box, where Caroline Massey finished with a header inside the far post. The third Hawks' goal came off a give and go in the box between Tori Tripp and Sidney Spremullo. Tripp was able to find the bottom right corner for the score.

The Hawks capped off their victory with two more goals in the second half from Aaliyah Ingram and Ashley Claud.

The Bulldogs were able to fire off six shots on the game from six different players, including attempts from senior Sarah Schucker (Nanuet, N.Y.) and sophomore Hannah Crofut (East Amherst, N.Y.).

Sophomore Rachel Brightman (Rochester, N.Y.) saw the majority of time in net for the Bulldogs, totaling five saves on the day.

The Black and Gold are back in action at home against UMass Lowell on Thursday at 4 p.m.
