Bulldogs win in spectacular fashion, Ralph scores game-winner in overtime

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Freshman Alex Ralph (Peterborough, Ont.) found the game-winning goal in overtime to put the Bryant University women's soccer team, 1-0, over Central Connecticut on Friday afternoon.

The overtime victory (7-5-4, 2-3-2)over the Blue Devils (puts the Bulldogs (5-10-2, 4-2-1) one step closer to the Northeast Conference Tournament and with a win on Sunday, Nov. 1 over LIU Brooklyn, the Black and Gold will clench a spot in the league playoffs.

In the first period of extra time, Ralph connected with freshman Alison Guilmette (Coventry, R.I.) on the give-and-go, allowing the midfielder time to place the score top, left corner from 30-yards out.

The victory would not have been possible without the perfect performance in net from junior goalie Kaylan Conrad (Avon, Conn.), who came up with a diving save late in the second half, recording her fifth shutout of the season. Conrad finished the game with eight saves in 100 minutes of play.

Senior Scout Benson (Lynnfield, Mass,) led the Bulldogs with two of three attempts on frame.
