McCarthy earns weekly honors in the NEC

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University women's soccer freshman Jaden McCarthy (Smithfield, R.I.) has been named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for week two of the season, the league announced Monday.

McCarthy played an instrumental role in Bryant's 1-0 win over Fairfield on Sunday afternoon. Not only did the freshman defender help her team shutout Fairfield, but she also netted the game-winner in the 87th minute. McCarthy was in the right place late in the game, converting a rebound after teammate Hannah Crofut (East Amherst, N.Y.) initially took a shot that was saved off of a corner. With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 3-1 on the young season, their best four-game start since 2012.

Bryant is back in action on Thursday, September 1 at UMass Lowell at 7:00 p.m.
