Bulldogs rewarded for perfect weekend, as Woods and Donaghy earn weekly honors

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University women's soccer senior forward Kianna Woods (Stafford Springs, Conn.) and junior defender Brigitte Donaghy (Toronto, Ont.) have been named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, the league announced Monday.

Woods propelled Bryant to a 2-0 start in conference play, posting three goals, as the Bulldogs swept Robert Morris and LIU Brooklyn. Woods scored three of the team's four goals on the weekend, netting two against the Blackbirds and one against the Colonials. Her first goal of the season came after she corralled a pass 25 yards away from the net and fired a shot inside the lower right post against the Colonials to seal the game in the 83rd minute. She became the first Bryant player this season to post a two-goal game in the win over the Blackbirds on Sunday. It marked just the ninth time in Bryant's Division I history that a player has had a multi-goal game, and Woods is now tied for first on the team with six points on the year.

Donaghy was a big part of Bryant's two shutout wins to open its NEC slate. The junior defender helped limit Robert Morris and LIU Brooklyn to just eight combined shots and four on goal. She also assisted on Bryant's first goal in the win against Robert Morris, with a service into the box on a free kick that was headed in by teammate Alison Guilmette (Coventry, R.I.). Donaghy has started every game this season and has helped the Bulldogs record an NEC-high six shutouts on the year.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Friday when they travel to Central Connecticut for a 7:00 p.m. start.
