Bulldogs add nine to the class of 2021 on national signing day

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University women's soccer head coach Andy Biggs is pleased to announce the signing of nine newcomers to the class of 2021.

The signees include a goalie, three defenders and versatile players that can spend time up front and in the midfield. The nine players all boast a long list of high-school accolades along with both individual and team success. The class of 2021 will certainly provide an immediate impact and look to assist the Bulldogs in earning their second Northeast Conference Tournament berth in program history.

"We are very excited to welcome the 2017 class to Bryant University," said Biggs. "They are very good people, excellent students, and skillful players, and we know their talent and personal qualities will make each of them an excellent fit with our current team. We've really enjoyed getting to know them over the course of the recruiting process. Their excitement for Bryant and our team is fun to see, as I know from them that they can't wait to join up with their future teammates."

 
 

Amanda Spitaleri | 5-2 | F | Ronkonkoma, N.Y. / Connetquot

Four-year varsity starter for coach Jennifer Monahan in her first three years and Ryan Cavanagh as a senior … Helped lead her team to the first round of the section XI playoffs as a freshman … Named all-league in her freshman season … Named all-league, all-conference and league MVP as a junior … Earned all-league, all-conference, all-county and high school hall of fame induction as a senior … Played for the club team Lake Grove United of the NPL for coach Frank Stagnitta.  

 

Arin Smalls | 5-2 | M/F | Marlborough, Mass. / Advanced Math and Science Academy

Four-year varsity starter at the Advanced Math and Science Academy in Marlborough, Mass. For coach Ben Okara … Colonial Conference All-Star all four years … Was named team MVP in 2013, 2015 and 2016 … Named a team co-captain in 2016 … Led team in goals in 2015 and 2016 … Named a Central Mass. All-Star in 2014 and 2016 … Played for the club team NEFC-Breakers of the ECNL … Club team was the Massachusetts State Cup Champions, National Premier League Champions and National Cup Finalists in 2015 and 2016.  

 

Becca Michaud | 5-7 | D/M | Westport, Mass. / Bishop Stang High School

Four-year varsity soccer at Bishop Stang as a defender … Named a Standard Times All-Star and Herald News All-Star in 2014, 2015 and 2016 … Named an EAC All-Star in 2015 and 2016 …  Team won the EAC Championship in her senior season, as she was also named an EMGSCA All-State All-Star … Played for the club team NEFC-Breakers of the ECNL … Club team was the Massachusetts State Cup Champions, National Premier League Champions and National Cup Finalists in 2015 and 2016. 

 

Emily Gordon | 5-8 | D | Grafton, Mass. / Holy Name Central Catholic High School

Five-year varsity starter at center back for coach Bill Manzello, winning no fewer than 13 games in each of her seasons … Reach the Central Mass. district finals twice, the semifinals twice and the quarters once … Named a Central Mass. All-Start in 2014, 2015 and 2016 … Named conference MVP as a senior, Central Mass. All-state and a Telegram and Gazette Super Team All-Star … Played for the club team FC Stars of Massachusetts of the ECNL.

 

Jamie Irwin | 5-5 | D | Succasunna, N.J. / Roxbury High School

Four-year varsity starter for coach Justin Renna as a defender … Helped team win a combined 45 game in her final three seasons … Team was Co-County Champions and State Section Champions in 2014 … Team was the Morris County Champions in 2015 and 2016 … 2015 Winter Track 4x4 State Section Champions / Morris County Champions / All Morris County Team … Girls Varsity Soccer First Team All-County in 2015 and 2016 … Mugs Media Player of the Year,  Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference Player of the Year and the Morris County Tournament MVP in 2016 … Played for the club team STA Morris of the NPL.

 

Katie Cronin | 5-5 | F | Feeding Hills, Mass. / Wilbraham and Monson Academy

Four-year varsity starter for coach Don Nicholson at Wilbraham and Monson Academy … Also four-year varsity basketball and lacrosse member … Team was the 2014 WWNEPSSA Class B Champions and NEPSAC Tournament finalist … Named WWNEPSSA All Conference and All-Star as well as team MVP in 2015 and 2016 … Named to the Massachusetts All-State Team as a senior ... Four-year starting guard for basketball, All-Tournament Team and Coaches Award recipient in 2015 and 2016 … Named the lacrosse MVP and was a three-time WNEPSWLA All-Conference selection and All Star … Played for the club team FC Stars of Massachusetts of the NPL.

 

Kristen Bortolotti | 5-8 | F | Foxborough, Mass. / Foxborough High School

Four-year varsity starter for coach Kaitlin Lamothe-Vaughn as a forward … Team reached the second round of the state tournament three times … Named a Hockomock League All-Star and Sun Chronicle All-Star in 2013, 2014 and 2016 … Named an Eastern Mass. All-Star in 2014 and 2016 … Hockomock League leading scorer with 15 goals in 2013 … Earned team captaincy as a junior and senior … Also a four-year varsity starter for basketball … Hockomock League All-Star for Basketball in 2014 and team captain for her senior season … Played for the club team Played for the club team NEFC-Breakers of the ECNL … Club team was the Massachusetts State Cup Champions, National Premier League Champions and National Cup Finalists in 2015 and 2016. 

 

Kylie Ratelle | 5-5 | M | Chicopee, Mass. / Chicopee High School

Four-year varsity starter for coach Kyle Thibeault in her first three years and Ashley Ziemba as a senior, spending most of her time in the midfield … Team was the Central Mass. League champs three years, winning a total of 43 games in those years … Was an All-League selection in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 … All-Western Mass. Second Team selection in 2014 and earned first team in 2015 and 2016 … All-State selection in 2015 … Super 7 and Senior All-Star game in 2016 … Tallied 43 goals and 29 assists over her career …  Played for the club team FC Stars of Massachusetts of the NPL.

 

Meghan Dalton | 6-0 | GK | West Hartford, Conn. / Kingswood Oxford School

Three-year varsity starter for coach Tracy Deeter, missing her junior season due to injury … Team was a tournament quarterfinalist in her sophomore and senior seasons … Earned three shutouts and allowed just 19 goals as a freshman … Earned eight shutouts and allowed just 12 goals as a sophomore in 2014 … Named team captain as a senior, earning seven shutouts while allowing 14 goals … Played for the club team Oakwood SC of the NPL … Named OPI MVP and club team was the OPI champions in 2014 … Club team was the NEWSS runner-ups and OPI champions in 2015 … Club team was the NEWSS champions in 2016.
