Cronin tabbed NEC Rookie of the Week

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Freshman forward Katie Cronin (Feeding Hills, Mass.) was named the Northeast Conference Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Cronin scored what would be the game-winning goal in the 45th minute of the Bulldogs' 4-1 victory over Vermont on Friday afternoon. She made a run to the far post, where Rachel Benz's (Stamford, Conn.) cross was directed and the freshman was able to fire it near post and into the net.

Her goal was the second of what would be a season-high four-goal day for Bryant, who extended their unbeaten streak to five games.

Cronin is the second Bulldog to receive a weekly honor this season, as freshman Meghan Dalton (West Hartford, Conn.) was honored with the Defensive Player of the Week award on August 28.

The last Bulldog to win Rookie of the Week was Jaden McCarthy (Smithfield, R.I.) on August 29, 2016.

Bryant opens NEC play this weekend when they head to Pennsylvania to take on Robert Morris on Friday and St. Francis University on Sunday.
