Irwin leads four All-NEC honorees

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The Bryant University women's soccer team landed four players on the 2018 Northeast Conference All-Conference teams, highlighted by sophomore Jamie Irwin (Succasunna, N.J.) earning her second consecutive First Team All-NEC honor.

Irwin helped lead the Bulldogs defense to five clean sheets during the 2018 campaign, including two in the team's final home weekend in which they surrendered just six total shots on goal. She started 15 of the 16 games for head coach Andy Biggs and recorded her first-career assist as well when she helped Bryant get on the board against Central Connecticut in the second half.

The Black and Gold landed two on the NEC's Second Team, with junior Remi Manna (Pleasantville, N.Y.) and sophomore Amanda Spitaleri (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) being listed.

Manna finished the season with two goals and an assist to her name, with three of the five points coming in conference play. She provided the game-winning goal in a second-half comeback against Fairfield on August 30 as well as the first of two goals in a 2-0 win over Robert Morris on October 19. Her assist came in Bryant's first home conference contest, a 1-1 draw with Saint Francis U.

Spitaleri's second-consecutive All-NEC honor comes after she finished the 2018 campaign with a team-high five goals, four of which came in conference play. She provided the winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Sacred Heart, the first NEC win of four for Bryant this season. Her next three came all in one afternoon, recording a hat trick in Bryant's 3-0 win over LIU Brooklyn on Senior Day on October 21. It is the first hat trick since 2006 and just the sixth the program has seen in the last 20 years.

The final honoree for the Bulldogs is freshman Corinne Rey (Norton, Mass.), who was named to the conference's All-Rookie team. She finished the season with two goals and an assist. Her first-career goal came against Holy Cross on September 7, when she put home a rebound off a chance she created in the box. Her second goal knotted the proceedings against Sacred Heart before the Spitaleri winner, then the two combined in one of the three goals Bryant scored against LIU Brooklyn.
