Bryant draws at UMBC to open America East play

BALTIMORE, MD. - On Sunday afternoon the Bryant University women's soccer team came up with a 2-2 draw against UMBC to start their conference slate.

Game Information
Bryant 2, UMBC 2
Records: Bryant (3-2-2), UMBC (2-7-1)
Location: Baltimore, MD (Retriever Soccer Park)

Coach's comments on the draw...

"We started very well today and had enough quality chances to score one or two more in the first half. Our focus dipped a bit at the end of the first half. While we created a few good opportunities, we did not play with the same consistent level of confidence for long stretches of the second half. After we conceded the tying goal from a corner, we did raise our level again and finished the game well.

Key Moment

  • UMBC scored two unanswered second half goals to get the tie.

Scoring Summary

  • 12th minute - Bryant 1, UMBC 0 - Jordyn Collins took a shot from just outside the 6-yd box which was saved by the UMBc goalkeeper. However, the keeper did not get a hold on the ball and Collins was there to finish off the loose ball.
  • 21st minute - Bryant 2, UMBC 0 - Madison Luke received a ball at the top of the 18-yard box from Catherine Bean. After taking a touch, Luke finished the ball into the bottom right corner with her left foot.
  • 38th minute - Bryant 2, UMBC 0 - The Bulldogs gave away the ball in their own defensive third to Lola Negrete. Negrete then found Meghan McKye who put the ball past Kathryn McNeil and into the lower right corner of the goal.
  • 81st minute - Bryant 2, UMBC 2 - Lola Negrete found the head of Natasha Munro from a corner kick. Munro sent the ball into the lower right corner of the goal past the outstretched hand of Bryant keeper Selena Negron
