Cunningham named AE Rookie of the Week

BOSTON - Freshman defender Ashley Cunningham of the Bryant University women's soccer team was named the America East Rookie of the Week by the organization Monday afternoon.

Cunningham played pivotal minutes coming off the bench for the Bulldogs this past week. She helped the Bryant defense to keep a clean sheet in their 1-0 win over Vermont and hold Binghamton to only one goal in a 1-1 tie.

This is Cunningham's first weekly honor of her career. The Black and Gold have had two weekly honors previously this season. Sophomore Selena Negron and junior Samantha Breton both won the defensive honor. Negron did so in Week 1 and Breton in Week 4.

Cunningham and the Bulldogs are set to take on UAlbany on Sunday (Oct. 8th) in a 1:00 pm conference matchup.
