BRYANT WOMEN'S SWIMMING COMPETES AT URI WITH VERMONT
KINGSTON, RI -- The Bryant University women's swim team took part in a tri-meet at the University of Rhode Island on Saturday. The Bulldogs fell to Vermont by a score of 256-41.
Bryant was led by freshman Casey Ostrander who picked up Bryant's lone win on the day by winning the 100 yard freestyle in a new school record time of 53.65 seconds. She also placed fifth earlier in the 200 freestyle in 2:02.01. Teammate Brianne Dwyer was eight in the 200 free in 2:03.22.
Dwyer had a good day for the Bulldogs as she placed eighth in the 50 free in 26.38, just ahead of teammate Margaret Dickinson who was ninth in 27.28 and Stephanie Naumchevski who was 10th in 27.27.
Freshman Molly Smith was fifth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.99 and added a ninth-place finish in the 200 individual medley in 2:20.61. Abby Whittaker was right behind Smith, touching the wall in 10th in 2:22.07.
Other highlights of the day include the women's 400 freestyle
relay team placing fourth in 3:45.05 and Whittaker's eight in the
100 butterfly in 1:04.31. Kate Unger following in ninth with
Kim Carballeira in 10th, Amy Howell in 11th
and Alli Schaab coming in at 12th.
