WOMEN’S SWIMMING COMPETES AT DARTMOUTH INVITATIONAL

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's swim team received strong showings from several swimmers, but the squad was not able to over the opposition, as the Bulldogs finished fifth at the Dartmouth Invitational Saturday afternoon. Head-to-head, the Black and Gold fell to Dartmouth, 266.00-58.00, Boston College, 218.00-106.00, Maine, 192.00-132.00, and UMass, 249.00-69.00.

Dartmouth took the top spot, garnering 1,165.50 between both the diving and swimming competitions. UMass, Boston College, and Maine finished second through fourth respectively, while Bryant rounded out the five-team field with 290 total points.

Sophomore Casey Ostrander (Yarmouthport, Mass.) paced the Bulldogs with two top-five finishes. The Massachusetts native took third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.52 and took third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.20.

The Black and Gold also earned the top spot in the 100-yard freestyle, as freshman Taylor DeBever (Denver, Colo.) paced the field with her 52.91 time.

The Bulldogs travel to Holy Cross on Feb. 5 before heading to the Northeast Conference Championships Feb. 17-18.
