BRYANT PLACES SEVEN ON 2011 NEC WOMEN’S SWIMMING ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's swim team picked up seven Northeast Conference All-League selections after finishing fourth at the NEC championships last Saturday.

Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet Casey Ostrander (Yarmouthport, Mass.) highlighted the All-NEC first team selections after winning three individual titles at the 2011 league championships. Ostrander began the meet with a victory in the 50-yard freestyle (23.60) and went on to notch wins and conference records in the 100-yard backstroke (55.83) and 200-yard backstroke (2:00.76). In addition to her individual achievements, the Massachusetts native was a member of the first-place 200-yard freestyle relay, second-place 200-yard medley relay and third-place 400-yard freestyle relay.

Bryant's Ostrander, Taylor DeBever ( Denver, Colo.), Amy D'Olympia (Mattapoisett, Mass.), and Kaitlin Buckley (Duxbury, Mass.) were also recognized on the first team for their 200-yard freestyle relay performance, as the team set a league record (1:34.56) over the weekend.

Two-time swimmer of the week DeBever also garnered All-NEC first team honors for her 1:49.98 time in the 200-yard freestyle.

Sophomore Molly Smith (Belmont, Mass.) represented the Bulldogs on the second team all-conference list with her 2:21.02 time in the 200-yard breastroke. She was joined by the 200-yard medley relay lineup of Ostrander, Brianne Dwyer (Hicksville, N.Y.), Buckley and DeBever, as the squad recorded a 1:45.42 mark and a second-place finish.

The 400-yard free relay team of Buckley, D'Olympia, DeBever and Ostrander received All-NEC third team honors for their 3:29.80 mark last Saturday at MIT.

The Bulldogs will wrap up their 2010-11 campaign with ECAC Championships in Pittsburgh, Pa. starting on Thursday, Feb. 25.
