Bulldogs head north to face Catamounts

Smithfield, R.I. -- The Bryant University women's swimming and diving team will face another early season challenge this weekend when it heads to Burlington, VT, on Sunday, Nov. 20, to face the University of Vermont.

The Bulldogs (3-5) are coming off a 2-1 week. They defeated Providence before splitting a dual meet with Siena and Niagara. Bryant has received excellent contributions from its first year swimmers over the first month of the season. Caitlin Hanahoe (Prairie, Minn.) has shown her versatility already, swimming in nine different events this year while earning five top-three finishes. She won her first race against the Friars, claiming the 500 free. The Bulldogs have also received several strong swims from Mara Valenzuela (Bridgewater, N.J.). This past week, Valenzuela earned five top-three finishes in four different events. Against the Saints and Purple Eagles, she finished second in the 200 free and 100 back.

Following this weekend, the Black and Gold won't swim again until the URI Invitational in Kingston, R.I., on Dec. 2-3. That will also be the last meet of the first semester for the Bulldogs.
