Bulldogs swept by Stony Brook

BRYANT SWEPT BY STONY BROOK IN A DUAL MEET SATURDAY

RESULTS

STONY BROOK, N.Y.—The Bryant University men's swimming and women's swimming and diving teams earned 10 first-place finishes but it wasn't enough, as Stony Brook University swept the Bulldogs Saturday afternoon.

The men dropped their second-straight dual meet, 157-105, and are now 6-4 on the season.Graham Beck (Danvers, Mass.) captured two events and Alex Kosenski(Lavallette, N.J.)and Nicholas Karadimas (New Milford, Conn.) each picked up a victory against the Seawolves. Bryant's top breaststroker, Beck won the 100 breast (1:02.05), the 200 breast (2:17.80) and added a second-place finish in the 1000 free (10:21.03).

Although Kosenski only won one race, the senior captain earned a pair of second-place finishes, touching the wall just behind the winner. His lone victory came in the 50 free (21.87) and he earned second-place finishes in the 100 free (47.48) and the 200 free (1:44.07). Karadimas won the 100 fly with a time of 54.12 and finished behind Kosenski the 200 free with a time of 1:47.34.

Other top performers for the men included Cameron Hessler (Southbury, Conn.) (2nd in the 100 back), Keagan Boshoff (Munich, Germany) (2nd in the 200 breast) and John Lawson(Bernardsville, N.J.) (2nd in the 500 free). The 400 free relay team of Karadimas, Lawson,Tim McGrath (Hyannis, Mass.) and Kosenski closed the meet with a victory.

The women suffered the same fate, dropping a 156-106 decision to the Seawolves. JuniorCasey Ostrander (Yarmouthport, Mass.) won three events for the second consecutive meet and Taylor DeBever (Denver, Colo.) and Molly Smith (Belmont, Mass.) each registered top finishes for the Black and Gold. A day after setting three pool records and one school record, Ostrander notched a pair of season-best swims in the 100 back (58.12) and the 100 free (53.03). She also won the 50 free with a time of 24.38.

DeBever claimed her lone victory in the 200 free (1:57.62) and Smith won the 200 breast with a time of 2:29.52. Smith also earned a second-place finish in the 1000 free (11:10.69) andMara Valenzuela (Bridgewater, N.J.) finished third in the both the 50 and 100 free.

The Black and Gold return to the pool this Friday, January 27, when they travel to Hanover, N.H., to compete in the Dartmouth Invitational.
